Chinese Paladin

Chinese Paladin

Chinese Paladin (Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan / Legend of the Sword and Fairy)

Chinese Paladin is a chinese fantasy series based on a popular RPG game of the same name.
The story of the series is about a young man named Li Xiao Yao who goes to an island to get medicine to cure his sick aunt.  At the island he meet Zhao Ling'er and marries her.  Li Xiao Yao finds out he has been tricked by the Lunar Sect Cult.  He loses his memory after he returns and cures his aunt using the medicine.
Xiao Yao agrees to help Ling'er who is now without a home to find her father, King of the kingdom of Nan Zhao Gua.   Along the way, they meet new people and make different discoveries.

As an over all thing I liked Chinese Paladin, although there are some aspects that were not done well.
The foremost being that it dragged at time and the humour which did not always appeal to me.
I liked the story and some of the subplots as well.

Xao Yao and Ling'er

I liked most of the characters, such as Xao Yao, Ling'er and Tang Yu, while I did not like some such as Ah  Nu and Yue Ru.  Although I like Ling'er I do agree with some reviewers about her character kind just being given the innocent and cute and not much else. I think that was not help by maybe her actress and the way the story was written and the scenes she was given.  Many seemed to prefer the Xao Yao ang Yue Ru pairing than him with Ling'er and I can see that because Yue Ru was given and took more active action to get Xao Yao affection which was greatly contrast to Ling'er that seem quite desolate a lot of the time. Although Yue Ru didn't do much the story gave her a lot more instances to be with Xao Yao and thus growing closer.  Ling'er seemed like she had some spunk but too many times just came off as helpless.
I liked Tang Yu but felt he was dragged down by Ah Nu and didn't develop as much as he could.
Ah Nu was just cute and since her main priority were fun and food. she really got annoying because she didn't seem to care.  Ah Nu didn't get much development by the time they tried it the story was ended.  She never seemed like she grew at all.

Ling'er Nu Wa form outfit
Over all it was a good show. Though I found that there were a lot of wasted potential and ideas.
But I would recommend it for a watch.  Especially if you want to know the story and complete it along with Chinese Paladin 3.
